As we continue to grow as a club we want to stay close to our roots in Lancing. Over the recent years we have had to branch out further afield as we have outgrown Croshaw for our 16 youth sides and 4 adult sides.

We were recently given an opportunity to put in a proposal for using some space at Monks Recreation Ground, the largest grass area in our village. This has been historically used by Lancing FC, but the space is vast and there is a lot of scope for wider use and development.

With a new Parish Council in situ, the previous Monks Rec development plan has been reviewed and after an initial meeting between the Parish and the 3 Lancing Youth Football clubs, we have been granted the use of one 11 a side pitch at Monks for a fixed period on Saturdays and Sundays.

This is great news for the club as it gives us greater access to pitches in our home town and will allow us to not only bring some of our teams “back home” but also allow us to continue to grow and develop at the rate we have over the past 5 years.

Talking about the development, Chairman and founder of Lancing United Colts FC had the following to say…..

“I would like to thank the Parish for their openness and honesty about their plans for Monks and how they see it being used going forward. This is great news for our club and allows us to keep our teams in our home village, making it easier for parents and players to get to games and also allowing us to continue to support the local economy.

Monks is a large area and being utilised to its full potential is really important not only for the residents but also for the good of the Parish too. It has been great working in conjunction with the new Parish team and also with Lancing FC and Lancing Rangers FC who are both great clubs in their own right. It also shows that we can work together for the great of football and youth development in Lancing.

There are still things that need to be finalised but we are hopeful that come the first games in early September we will be utilising Croshaw, Sir Robert Woodard Academy, Monks Rec and Lancing College to their full potential and keeping Colts football within Lancing.

Big thanks to Andy McGregor, Brendan Carey, James Taylor and Steve Searle for working in conjunction with us and giving us the opportunity to work with everyone on the ongoing development of Monks over the coming years”
