Become a Mini Colt

Mini Colts is the ideal way to introduce your son or daughter into football from over 4 and  upwards. It runs every Saturday from 10.15 – 11am at the home of Lancing United Colts – Crowshaw Recreation Ground.

The sessions are just 45mins long the perfect amount of time to hold new players interest whilst giving them enough time to train, have fun and play a match at the end.

Costs
The cost of each session is just £3.00 per session which is cheaper than committing and joining an academy at the age where you may be unsure if they are ready for football. This is the perfect place to bring them along and give it ago without high cost or long term commitment and monthly fees.

The Mini Colts team
We are really lucky to have a great team in charge of Mini Colts in Leigh, Brad and Tash.

Leigh is a Lancing United senior side player and former first team coach as well as being a fully qualified referee. He is also a member of our committee in charge or developing mini soccer at Lancing United Colts and supporting our mini soccer teams.

Brad is a former Lancing Colts youth player that has just moved up into adult football and also a fully qualified referee.

Both are heavily involved with the club and take time to ref for our sides of all ages as well as coaching our mini colts. 

Brad and Leigh take the players at the mini’s and help them understand football and how it should be played as a team with lots of passing and team play. They work with the mini’s to develop their skills and build confidence.

Tash is in charge of parents contact, payments and helping the new teams that come from Mini Colts get ready to form a new team and ensuring as many players as possible move onto the next step into youth mini soccer at under 7s. She also helps find new coaches for the new teams and guides them through the process of setting up a new side and all of the learning that goes with that step.

First steps

We all know players develop at different rates and have different confidence levels and we’ve seen it many times where a player has older brothers they play with or is football mad in the garden but when it comes to joining a larger group they become shy and unwilling to step over the line but we are happy to wait and let them try it at their own pace.

Moving Forward

We are really proud that to date we have 2 established sides that have come through our Mini Colt system and for the first time this season 2 sides will be formed of around 18 players to make up our under 7s for next season. One of these has already had their first game and are ready to go and the other isn’t far behind.

So our Mini Colts set up really is the future of our club and a really important part of feeding into youth football. All whilst having fun and learning the correct way to play football as part of a team not as individuals.
