Covid-19

Safe Training Sessions

Here is how we plan to stay safe while training at Lancing United Colts

General rules

  • If you feel unwell or a member of your household becomes unwell due to Covid-19, please do not attend training sessions and let the manager know that you have come in to contact with someone with symptoms.
  • Please wash your hands using soap and water or antibacterial handwash before leaving for training, and when returning home (if possible before leaving the car and entering your home).
  • Please do not feel pressured in to attending training sessions, they are a personal choice that only you can make, our managers and coaches will understand.
  • Educate your son or daughter to the risks, and encourage them to follow instructions for their own safety and that of your family.
  • Please encourage them to use antibacterial wash when asked to do so by our managers and coaches.
  • Running training sessions is at the discretion of the managers and coaches, and if they feel unsafe they are free to not carry out training sessions and the club will support them fully.
  • Managers and Coaches are permitted to split their sides into smaller groups of 5 players or less with 1 coach per five players. But the players have to stay within these groups for the entire session and not move between groups or share training equipment between groups.

Training Facilities

  • The changing room at Crowshaw will be open in case of emergency only and will not be open for use of the toilets by parents or players.
  • Our teams will only train in areas that they are able to safely distance between the groups of 6 training, and parents picking up and dropping off.
  • Areas that will be open for managers will be regularly cleaned.

Arriving and leaving sessions

  • No footballs will be out on arrival and after sessions, this is to avoid full contact pre and post training kick-abouts for the players.
  • Please ensure players are dropped off to training as close to the start time as possible and that you are available to leave as soon as they finish.
  • Please come equipped with drinking bottle and ensure it is taken away when you leave.

Equipment

  • We are advising managers and coaches to only use the equipment they need, and keep it to a minimum and to clean off what they do use.
  • All equipment including goals and footballs will be cleaned after each session.
  • Coaches are advised to keep 72 hours between sessions to avoid passing Covid-19 while in contact with equipment.
  • Players will be given their own numbered ball for each session that only they can use and are responsible for.
  • Players will be encouraged not to handle the ball at any point unless it is required.
  • Bibs will not be used at any training session.
  • Equipment will not be passed between different groups while training, each group will only use one set of equipment.
  • Only the manager/coach will be allowed to put out and collect up cones and equipment.
  • Players will be advised not to touch cones and equipment.

Training session and drills

  • Players and coaches will maintain a 2m social distance at all times (unless there is an injury).
  • Players will not come in to contact with each other at any time.
  • Goalkeepers will be encouraged to keep gloves on at all times and not make contact with bare hands at any time.
  • We will try to keep ball work to a minimum but fully understand that ball work is vital to the enjoyment of training sessions.
  • As a club we plan to set out 2m by 2m grids lines on the ground to support coaching sessions and help the players while training.
  • When taking part in a drill, players will be asked to stand at set 2m distanced spaces while they wait their turn shooting or passing.
  • In the event of an injury to a player, the parent will be first asked to check on the player. Where a parent isn’t present a trained first aider will respond and treat the player.
